Elaine S. Evans Williams was the youngest child of eight born to John E. Evans and Mary Eliza Robinson Evans. Born February 17, 1936 in Argo, Illinois. Where pride and confidence in yourself was taught by both parents, grandparents and the community.

At the age of 12 Elaine accepted Christ and was baptized by Rev. Weems. She stated her most memorable event was making a choice as to her religion. At age 14 after moving to Chicago, she embraced the Congregational doctrine of religion. She held fast to that throughout her life.

Elaine was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 62 years Anderson Williams; both parents, three sisters; Lula Mae, Amelia Bell, Virginia and her only brother; John Andrew Evans.

Elaine graduated from Parker High School in Chicago, IL. She went on to receive two more degrees from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI, an undergraduate BA and a graduate M.Ed. Elaine also received an Administration and Supervision Certificate from WSU. She strived to continually update her credentials by taking many classes.

Her first work experience was with the Detroit Board of Education as a substitute teacher, Lilliebridge Elementary; teacher, Isaac Crary Elementary; and Edgar A. Guest Middle School At Crary Elementary she restarted the Crary Owl newspaper. Elaine moved on to become a Language Arts Instructional Specialist,

with the Detroit Board of Education. She later advanced to become an Administrative Unit Head at Edgar A. Guest Middle School. She received many awards: October 1990, Certificate of Appreciation, issued by the Governor of Michigan, James J. Blanchard. Perfect Attendance Award, issued by William R. Moner, Principal of Edgar A. Guest M.S., Employee Recognition Day Plaque also issued by William R. Moner. She retired from Edgar A. Guest Middle School February 28, 2001.

Elaine met the love of her life Anderson Williams in Chicago, IL. They married in 1955 and moved to Detroit, Michigan. From this union two adorable, loving, spirit filled children were born; Andrea and Ivan Gerard. They made a lifetime commitment to their community and Church. She joined Plymouth Congregational Church under Rev. Horace A. White in 1955.

In January, 2010 Elaine also made a commitment to read the Bible in a year. She stated, “It was a spiritual and rewarding adventure”, under the guidance of Rev. Dr. Georgia Hill. She also stated, “That when she received her certificate of completion, it was a very proud moment in her life.”

Elaine S. was a Life Member and Silver Star of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Alpha Rho Omega Chapter, Detroit, MI. She was initiated June 10, 1979 into the Alpha Rho Omega Chapter. Other organizations were the NAACP (National Association of Colored People), The Charles H. Wright MAAH (Museum of African American History), The Bridge Club (over fifty years), PUCC: Deaconess Board, Nominating Committee, Go-Getters Circle, Board of Christian Education, Celebration of Life Committee, Trustee, The New Era Study Club established in 1926 and The Lunch Bunch, a Red Hat Society Member.

Adventure was Elaine’s name. She traveled to all 50 United States. She also journeyed to Asia, Canada, Halifax Nova Scotia, Mexico, South America and the East & West Caribbean's. She loved attending Jazz concerts and planning Theatre tours. Elaine loved Golf, Football, and Skiing. She once belonged to the Jim Dandy Ski Club.

Elaine S. Evans Williams is survived by her two children Andrea Miller, Ivan Gerard (Patricia) Williams both of Houston, TX, Stepdaughter Patricia Joyce (Herbert) Watson, Baton Rouge, LA, Goddaughter Elaine Linnear (Bobby) Savannah, Matteson, IL three sisters, Doris S. Evans, Lombard,. Il., Adelaide (Charles) Carroll, Mildred E. (Dr. Earl) Shelton, Lake St. Louis, MO. Her other children Gary, Lisa and Haley Claire Donaldson of Tallahassee, FL. Grandchildren: Kathy Kennedy, Candice Michelle White, Bryan Keith Miller II, Angela Lauren Miller. and Jasmine Barnes. Great Grands: Thomas Watson, Bobby Ray Kennedy Jr., Kabria Kennedy, Malaysia Le’Anne Lewis, Alyssia Williams and Mikayla White. Sisters in law; Eloise Williams Lindsay and Shirley Williams. Elaine also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends to cherish and honor her memory.
