(Geesey) McGinnis went from Life to Life Eternal, after a lengthy illness on Thursday, April 13, 2017 with family by her side, at 8:50 a.m. at Manor Care, Dallastown at the age of 78. She was the loving wife of Kenton R. McGinnis.She was born on August 18, 1938 and was the daughter of the late Harold L. and Estie Viola (Flinchbaugh) Geesey. Elaine was an administrative assistant at York Hospital in the Engineering Department for 22 years, retiring in 2005. A life member of Winterstown United Methodist Church where she was very involved as a former financial secretary, Sunday School teacher for the Toddlers and Nursery. She was the Leader of the Winterstown Kitchen Band and was a member of the Senior Choir. She graduated from Red Lion High School, Class of 1956. She and Kenton loved to travel and have been to more than 20 countries. Since 2005 they were snowbirds in Florida. She enjoyed sewing, making some of her own clothing and sharing her talents by making baby outfits for her nieces. Most times you could find her enjoying a good book, she loved to read.Besides her husband Kenton, Elaine is survived by her son, Kenton "Buddy" R. McGinnis, Jr. and his wife, Ann of Harrisburg; a brother, Leon "Jake" Geesey of Red Lion; and nieces and nephews, Kenny (Nancy) Kurtz, Kathy Brock, Lori Bates, Bruce (Robin) Geesey, Susan (Jim) Cleaver, Leon Geesey, Jr., Randy (Jeanie) Snyder, Jay Snyder, Timothy (Lynn) McGinnis, Cindy (Leo) Walters, Kirby Herrick and Russell (Terri) Herrick; brothers-in-law, Mike Herrick of Red Lion, Donald (Phyllis) McGinnis of York; and her sister in law, Pam McGinnis of MD. She was preceded in death by her sister, Leona Haugh.Viewings will be on Thursday, April 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc, 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, and Friday, April 21 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Winterstown United Methodist Church, 12184 Winterstown Road, Felton. A Service of Honor and Praise for Elaine will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, at the church with her pastor, the Rev. Mitchell M. Galloway, officiating.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to Winterstown United Methodist Church, "Fair Shares of Ministry", 12184 Winterstown Road, Felton, PA 17322.Elaine was a wonderful loving, caring and devoted wife to Kenton for 56 years, and Mother to Buddy. Her Faith and spending time with her Family was important to her. God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you, and whispered, "Come to me". God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes THE BEST.
