PINK HILL | Effie Pearl Mills, 88, went to be with the Lord on June 7, 2015. She was born on March 10, 1927, in Lenoir County to the late Archie and Drucilla Lewis Hill. Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Durwood Mills; daughter, Angela Mills Thompson; granddaughter, Brittany Wells; and great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Pate. Also sisters, Bruce Hines and Thelma Wisneski; and brothers, Joel Hill, Wilbur Hill and the Rev. Andrew Hill. She is survived by her grandson, Brandon Allen Wells; sister, Carrie Gooding; and many nephews and nieces. Also, special brothers-in-law, Pete Mills, Fred Mills and Van Mills. A service of celebration will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 8, at Pink Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Bryan officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, at the Whaley Family Cemetery on Pleasant Hill Road.
