Brey, Edwin J.Edwin Joseph Brey, 93, Green Bay resident, peacefully passed away on June 28, 2017. He was born on July 31, 1923 in Manitowoc to the late Michael and Anna (Gerl) Brey. He attended vocational school and worked at the shipyards until April 23, 1943, when Ed proudly began serving his country as a corporal in the Army Air Corp. He married Florence (Fruhriep) at St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown on October 7, 1966. She preceded him in death on March 20, 2011. Ed was self-employed as a painting contractor for most of his adult life - EJ Brey Painting and Contracting. He and his family took pride in his work at the new public library, the Neville Museum and even the Packer administrative offices where he met Bart Starr.Ed's passion in life was his family, fishing, bowling, golfing, polka dancing and the Packers. For many years, he enjoyed his cottage on Legend Lake and traveling around the country with his family. He especially loved his fishing trips to Canada. Ed is survived by his daughter, Michelle Farrow of Chippewa Falls and his son, Michael Brey of Green Bay; his grandsons, Michael and John. Two brothers, William (Virginia) Brey and Norbert Brey, all of Manitowoc; one sister, Laverne Wertel, Green Bay and many nieces and nephews.Ed was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law, Clara Brey, brother-in-law, John Wertel and brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Irma Schnuelle.Friends may call on Friday, June 30, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria St., after 9:30 am until time of Mass.
