Edwin Clyde Harbour Obituary

Nov 26, 1939 - Jan 10, 2013

This obituary is administered by:
Edwin Clyde Harbour, 73, died unexpectedly on Thursday night, January 10, 2013 in Show Low, AZ. Ed was born on November 26, 1939 in Phoenix, AZ to his parents, the late Thomas Luther and Mary Maxine (Evans) Harbour. Ed loved football, a sport in which he excelled his entire life. While in high school, he played for Antelope High School in Wellton. After his graduation from Antelope in 1959, Ed went on and attended NAU where he continued playing football and was a member of Sigma Phi Fraternity. His love for football was a motivation for him to become a Pop Warner Football coach and to date he's affectionately referred to as "coach". Ed served an enlistment in The United States Navy. On April 3, 1965, he married Linda Kay Leaverton in Phoenix, Arizona and were later sealed in the Mesa AZ Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in March of 1989.Ed had a huge fun streak within him. A true country boy at heart, he loved to ride and care for his several horses through the years. Ed also enjoyed working on his tractor and farming. Twice a year, He and Linda would sponsor a neighborhood picnic, "when the leaves fell off the tree and then when they grew back on, it's time to party." His son, Jay and Bill would entertain the neighborhood by playing in the band. Ed thought that each of his children were special in their own way. Jay was the adventurous one and his daughter, Stefanie, "never did anything wrong in his eyes." He truly loved his kids and he taught them each to become respected and responsible adults through his own example. Ed loved spending time at the family cabin in Heber and thoroughly looked forward to spending the warmest months of the year in the beautiful, clear mountains of The Mogollon Rim. This man, in the eyes of his grandkids, could do no wrong. He was loved so much by them. Ed was a dedicated family man throughout his entire life. He worked hard to be a good provider to his wife and children. In 1966, Ed began a long and successful career working for Arizona Public Service as a welder in Tempe and by the time he retired in 1999, he was Superintendent at Southwest Gas in Yuma. He was truly an expert in his field. Ed is survived by his wife, Linda Harbour of Yuma and Heber, AZ; children: Stefanie (Chris) Marchant of Yuma, Jason "Jay" (Jamie) Harbour of Yuma, 5 grandchildren: Clint Croutch, Daniel Croutch, Regina Elder, Isabella Marchant and Kyle Harbour. Ed is also survived by extended family, William "Bill" (Rebecca) Melton of Yuma. Along with his parents, Ed was preceded in death by Justin Levi Melton. The memorial service for Ed will begin 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the 8th Ave Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2895 S. 8th Ave in Yuma, AZ. Memorial contributions in Ed's name to: Yuma Pop Warner Football Association, P.O. Box 2002, Yuma, AZ 85366 or to: American Diabetes Assoc, 5333 N. 7th St, Ste. B-212, Phoenix, AZ 85014 have been suggested by his family. Ed's family was grateful for having such a wonderful man in their lives and he will be greatly missed.
