Edwin A. MurdochFebruary 21, 1933 - July 18, 2014Edwin Ayers Murdoch, 81, formerly of Blackfoot, passed away peacefully, with his wife by his side, on Friday, July 18, 2014, in Pocatello, Idaho.Edwin was born on February 21, 1933, in El Paso, Texas, to Albert Ayers and Ethel George Murdoch.He was the third generation to be born in El Paso. He grew up in El Paso and graduated from the El Paso High School. After high school Ed attended the Texas Western College, now know as U.T.E.P., where he received his Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering. Shortly after he joined the Army and served in the Signal Corps. Following his service Edwin worked for over 30 years as an engineer for Mountain Bell. Upon retirement, Edwin attended Seminary in Austin, Texas where he received a Master's of Arts of Theology.Edwin met, fell in love with, and married the love of his life, Sarah Roueche. They met shortly after high school at the local YMCA in El Paso. They were married St. Clements Episcopal Church in El Paso. Sarah and Ed enjoyed 60 years of marriage and raised two children; Dr. Matthew and Susannah. Ed and Sarah started their lives together in El Paso and moved to New Mexico in 1993. In 2002 they followed their grandchildren and moved to Blackfoot, Idaho.He was very involved in his church, the United Way, the Boy Scouts of America, and Boys Baseball of El Paso.Being an avid and eclectic gatherer of knowledge, he loved to read and collect books. He owned countless books wrote his name on every single one he owned. Ed enjoyed gymnastics and building things with his hands.He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ethel Murdoch.Edwin is survived by his wife, Sarah, a son, Dr. Matthew (Lauren) Murdoch, of Blackfoot, a daughter, Susannah (Anthony) Cuesta, of L.A., California, his grandchildren, Kia, Ryan, and Roman.A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 72 N Shilling Ave, Blackfoot.
