PUFFENBARGEREdward Samuel Puffenbarger, Colonel, USAF (Retired), 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 10:00 am at St John Neumann Catholic Church, 100 Polo Rd, Columbia, SC. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 12 noon. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, 4219 Hard Scrabble Road, Columbia, SC. Ed was the son of Samuel Edward Puffenbarger and Maude Mae Wolfe, and was born on March 15, 1930 in Youngstown, Ohio. Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jean Puffenbarger, his nine children: John, Greg, Doug, Ann Potthast, Paul, Kent, Mike, Sara Siciliano, Chris, their spouses, and his seventeen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lenora Pritchard, Virginia Gustafson, and Eloise Green, and his brother A. Paul Daniels.
