Ted is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Dorothy Jean (Leever) Leineke; his sister, Barbara Pilon; his daughter, Cheryl Gohs (husband, Gerald); his grandchildren, Richard Gohs (wife, Angie), Terrence "Terry" Gohs (wife, Michelle), Tracy Gohs, Mark Leineke (wife, Jean), Matthew Leineke, and Angela "Angie" Gohs Grembecki; nine great-grandchildren; and many close family, friends and neighbors. After his service in the Army, he began his career as a tool and die operator in Michigan and later in Orlando, Florida. Shortly after moving to Florida, he began working for Walt Disney World...a job (and a place) that he loved. He retired in 1997 and eventually moved to Mauldin, SC to be near his family. Ted also had a passion for competitive roller skating and was a beloved member of the roller skating community since the early 1950s. He started as a speed skater where he developed a love for the sport. He later coached, refereed and ultimately became an expert in the sport, serving as meet manager/skating official at numerous regional, national and world competitions. Over the years, Ted received multiple awards in recognition of his exemplary service to USA Roller Sports, including induction into the USARS Distinguished Service Hall of Fame in 1996, receipt of the Charles Wahlig Memorial USARS Life Membership in 2005, the Dennis Snead Roller Speed Skating Award for Officials in 2003, and a Meritorious Service Award in recognition of this work as a speed official and member of the USARS Speed Skating Committee. A service to honor his life will be held on April 28, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Condolences may be sent to 124B Sunrise Drive, Mauldin, SC 29662.
