Edward 'Eddie' J. Duffy Jr.Formerly of Chelmsford, MA; 55 SAN RAFAEL, CALIFORNIA -- Edward "Eddie" J. Duffy Jr., died unexpectedly in his home in San Rafael, California on November 18th, 2016.Edward was born on July 25, 1961 at Lowell General Hospital, was a 1979 graduate of Chelmsford High, earned his Bachelors at St. Anselm College in Manchester NH, went on to receive his Ph.D in Biochemistry from The University of Vermont , and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Cambridge in England.Beloved son of Edward and Eileen Duffy of Chelmsford, MA, Edward is survived by his two sons, Ryan and Nicholas Duffy of San Rafael, CA, his brother, Mark Duffy and his wife, Melissa of Chelmsford, MA; his sister, Martha McAuliffe and her husband, Dan of Stratham, NH; and his sister, Eileen Kaskons and her husband, Peter of Chelmsford, MA, as well as a niece and nephews.An accomplished scientist, Edward spent years in the Biotech industry, and was the president of Marin Bioworks in California.Edward loved spending time with his two boys, traveling, coaching baseball, and cooking. An avid soccer player, and Boston sports fan, Edward enjoyed connecting with his former CHS teammates, and friends around the world. Ed also loved vacationing along the coast of Maine, and fishing for bluefin tuna with his father and friends.Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
