Edward "Uncle Eddie" Phillips, 68, of Canaan, Trinidad and Tobago, Trinidad, who lived in NYC for about 35years, passed away of a heart attack while on his family visit to Antigua.
Eddie is survived by his wife Agnes of 37 years, daughters Janice Mannix, Christal Mannix, son Myran Phillips, stepson Karl Phillips, parents Zack and Claudia Phillips, brother Ben Johnson, sisters Linnette and Marlene, and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Eddie was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.
Eddie loved sports, especially baseball, where his favorite team was The New York Yankees. He worked as a general contractor for 30 years, but was forced to give up the career he loved due to his health. He spent his free time watching various sports games live and on TV; and he played football, baseball and basketball almost every weekend. He also enjoyed movies and reading during off-season. Eddie was always there to help relatives and friends with household projects, coached different sports or whatever else people needed him for.
Our family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the Barnes Funeral Home For being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
Visitation will be from 4 PM to 7 PM at Barnes funeral home. Lower Newgate Street. 309. He will be laid to rest at Saint John the Divine Cathedral Cemetery on Gutter Ln.
