Edward A. Landers, Jr.San AngeloEdward A. Landers, Jr. left this world on Friday, Feb.10, 2017, and entered the glorious presence of Jesus the Lord in heaven. Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at First Baptist Church located at 37 E. Harris Ave., San Angelo, Texas. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.Edward was born on June 19, 1928 in Start, Louisiana to Edward A. Landers, Sr. and Rena Morgan Landers. He met Mary Jo Hardwick while in first grade and became high school sweethearts. They were married on June 2, 1948 at 19 years of age and they spent 68 wonderful years together. Edward graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from
Louisiana State University. He worked mostly in offshore construction with Jay Ray McDermott and Ingram Contractors on six continents of the world. He and Mary moved to San Angelo in 2003 where they enjoyed a wonderful retirement. Edward loved playing golf as well as hunting and training bird dogs. Ed said "every man should have a good bird dog and a good wife but not necessarily in that order."He proudly served his country in the United States
Army during the
Korean conflict in Orleans, France with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 582nd Engineering Construction Battalion. He was honorably discharged with the rank of 1st Lt. Edward had a great sense of humor, he was well-liked by all and didn't have an enemy in the world. He is already missed by those who knew him.He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward A. Landers, Sr. and Rena Morgan Landers; son, Kenneth Edward Landers; and sister, Ethel Beatty.Edward is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Landers; sons, Gary Lee Landers and Ronald Dean Landers; grandchildren, Charles Edward Landers, John Reeves Landers, Elizabeth Temple Landers, Andrea Michelle Landers de Juarez, Olivia Katherine Landers Obermeyer; great grandchildren, Eli Landers, Delta Landers, and Khia Obermeyer; sister, Lora Antley.
