Edna A. Joe was one of seven children born May 2, 1936 to the late Hattie Murray and Ashby Brisbon in Bishopville South Carolina.

Edna received her education in Bishopville School System.

Edna was raised in a Christian home at an early age she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She was a member of Word of Faith Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Thomas.

Edna met and married Lucious B. Joe. They were married for 44 years.This union was blessed with 5 children. He preceded her in death.

"MOM" as she was affectionately called by all was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She raised her five great-grandchildren. Edna especially enjoyed being with her family and friends. She was an excellent cook and would feed the entire neighborhood. Edna was also a caring person, always concern about others. She will be greatly missed by all.

On Wednesday, July 18, 2009 her daughter, Darlene (Chew), grandchildren, Maurice, Darlene and Lucious took Edna "Mom" by the hand and led her to rest, her sisters, Jesse Mae, Sue Lee and Amadell; brother Mooney and son-in-law; Steven Watson all preceded her in death welcomed her home. She leaves precious memories to treasure: her children Elaine (Lulu), Yvonne (Pudney), Lucious Jr. (Joddy) and Melissa (Mush); adapted son Kevin (Beco); sisters; Inez, Sadie and Janie; son-in-law: Rodney Burgess; two sisters-in-law: Rosina and Dollie; six brothers-in-law: Sonny, Bo Daniels, Fruley, Boyd, Tunk and Sammy Lee; sixteen grandchildren: Michele, Danielle, Edna, Jelani, Mirah, Tina, Antoine, Rodney, Otis, Rakeen, Shirley, Michael, Talisha, Elijah, Tamika and Zaire; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
