Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Edith and her family.Edith Funke was born on February 14, 1921 in State Center to Albert and Emma Krausman Funke. She graduated from State Center High School. In June of 1957, Edith was united in marriage to Eugene Lapour in Des Moines. She had worked for Stone's Restaurant before marriage and then babysat for many young children when she was older. Edith enjoyed quilting, cross-stitch, crafts, watching Sunday morning political shows on TV and was a fan of both the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes.Edith is survived by her children: Debra (Steve) Kennedy of Aurora, Colorado, Steve Lapour of Lincoln, Nebraska, Diane (Donnie) Krause of Alexandria, Virginia, Pamela LaPour of Urbandale, Iowa, Janine (Kenneth) Brown of Huntsville, Alabama and Terry (Jan) LaPour of Overland Park, Kansas. Grandchildren: Ryan Brown and Jason Brown of Huntsville, Alabama and Keith Krause and Samantha Krause of Alexandria, Virginia. She is also survived by her brother Robert Funke and brother-in-law, Wesley Linhart, both of Marshalltown as well as many nieces and nephews.Edith is preceded in death by her husband Eugene, parents, three sisters and four brothers.
