Edith K. RasmussenNovember 16, 1924 - February 27, 2013Edith K. Rasmussen, 88, passed away peacefully February 27, 2013 at the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital. Edith was born on November16, 1924, in Bern, Idaho to O'Neal Rudger Kunz and Eliza Aseneth Bacon. She married the love of her life, Robert Dean Rasmussen, May 29, 1941 in Soda Springs, Idaho. Their marriage was late solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple February 15, 1946. Edith and Bob were blessed with six children, Judy Ann, Terry Dean, Christie, Lannie Jean, Robert Craig, and Lesa Kay.They made their home in Montpelier. Edith and Bob acquired the Silver Grill in 1956 and operated it together until they acquired the Virday Café and Cypress Dining Room, which they operated from 1963 to 1989.After retirement they spent seventeen years as snow birds going south for the winter. For them, these were special times in which they took life at a slower pace and enjoyed new friendships. Edith was blessed with many talents which she shared with family and friends in every way; she enjoyed making and sharing all types of hand works and crafts. She also enjoyed sharing and teaching these skills to others, especially her grandchildren. In the latter part of her life, she spent many hours with her sisters, daughters, and nieces making quilts for family and friends in the valley. She was a member of the LDS church where she held many callings. She enjoyed serving and helping others. For many years, she faithfully attended the temple on a weekly basis. Her love for her family, the gospel, and serving were the loves of her life. Edith was a kind, loving person and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by three daughters, Judy (Glenn) Grunig and Christie (Mike) Ochsenbein, both of Montpelier, Idaho, Lannie (Robert) Bloom of Pocatello, Idaho, and Robert Craig (Julie) Rasmussen of Boise, Idaho. 20 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren, and three sisters, Elva K. (Kenneth) Nield and Virginia Price, both of Montpelier, Idaho, Karen Phelps of Blackfoot, Idaho, one brother, Wayne Kunz of Ogden, Utah, brother in-law, Dale Northup, of Montpelier, Idaho, and sister in-law Joann (Blake) Williams of Blackfoot, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Dean, son Terry Dean, daughter Lesa Kay Rasmussen, great-grandson Jaxson Wilson, her parents O'Neal Rudger and Eliza Aseneth Bacon, and by her siblings Vernal Kunz, Melvin Kunz, and Oma Kunz Northup. Friends and family will gather in her honor Monday, March 4 for funeral services at 12:00 noon in the Montpelier South Stake Center located at 485 S. 7th Street in Montpelier. The funeral services will be conducted by Bishop Loring Cammack of Montpelier 1st ward. A viewing will be held Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will follow in the Montpelier Cemetery.
