Chaplain (Maj) Rev. EdisonF. Burleson1936 - 2017Chaplain (Maj.) Rev. Edison F. Burleson, 80, of Pensacola, FL passed away and was received in the arms of his Lord and Savior Saturday Morning, February 25, 2017.Rev. Burleson was born on August 5, 1936 in Pensacola, FL to Eben Franklin and Dora Will (Dyson) Burleson. He graduated from Pensacola Highs School, received his Bachelor of Arts from Troy University in History; Bachelor of Divinity form Emory University-Chandler School of Theology and his Masters in Human Relations & Public Administration from Webster University. He retired from the Alabama/West Florida Conference as a United Methodist Minister with 50 years of service, while serving in the conference Rev. Burleson served 30 years as a Chaplain in the US Army. After his military service, he served as the Senior Chaplain at Century Correctional Institute for 10 years. He was a member of Grand Lodge of Kentucky Camp Knox Lodge # 919 F&AM. Rev. Burleson was a Charge Conference Member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Pensacola.He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Elizabeth Ann Burleson Miller and Douglas M. Burleson.Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Sylvia Parker Burleson of Pensacola; children David E. Burleson (Diane) of Milton, FL, Ginger Burleson Roberts (John Phillip) of Jay, FL; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Sarah Burleson Boyer Davis of Washington, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, as well as numerous brothers and sisters in-law.Visitation will be 5-7pm Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.Funeral Service will begin at 10:00am Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at St. Luke United Methodist Church with Chaplain (Col) Rev. David McLean officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.Active Pallbearers will be Darren Voght, Ryan Thomas, Tommy Miller, Scott Miller, Rodney Godwin, Kevin Redfearn, Jimmy Faller and Trevor Rodabaugh.
