EDGAR LeROY YOUNGSTROMJUNE 24, 1943 - JAN. 11, 2016Edgar LeRoy Youngstrom, 72, of Emmett, Idaho, passed away January 11, 2016. Edgar was born on June 24, 1943, to Roy and Lucy Youngstrom in Emmett, Idaho. He was the oldest of 6 children.Edgar was a native Idahoan and enjoyed small town life with good friends and lots of extended family members. He graduated from Emmett High School in 1961. After graduation, Ed joined the Marines and served in the reserves for several years. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Ann Thomas in the summer of 1963. They were married for 51 years until her death a little over a year ago.He retired as a Journeyman Electrician after working at Boise Cascade Corp. for over 40 years, but in his lifetime Edgar had jobs ranging from custom haying, tractor work, working in the orchards and the Drive-In theater in his youth. His passion however was working together with his wife and kids on their farm raising various crops and beef cattle. Edgar was involved in scouting for many years. He enjoyed On Target outings, Scout Camps, among many other adventures such as raft trips down the Salmon and Payette rivers. Edgar had a passion for educating the youth. Edgar enjoyed the outdoors. Most family outings were spent in the mountains camping, fishing and riding ATVs. He did not miss an opportunity to watch his kids play high school sports. He enjoyed helping officiate the high jump for the local high school track team and you could always hear him in the crowds cheering on his kids playing basketball. In later years, he enjoyed watching his grandkids during their games. Edgar was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his parents and a younger brother Dwain. He is survived by his daughter Angela and three sons, Ed (Melinda), Darin (Shirley) and Jason; 8 grandkids, Marranda, Brianna, Bryce, Brittney, Alexee, Payton, Kinzee, and Brayden. He is also survived by two brothers; Gerald Youngstrom, Frank Youngstrom and two sisters; Karen Compton and Diana Youngstrom. A viewing was held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. Edgar's life was celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Potter Funeral with burial following at the Emmett Cemetery then a luncheon at the LDS Stake Center. People came with memories to share.
