Mrs. Eda Santin, age 83 years, died peacefully on December 13, 2016. She was born on January 24, 1934 in Fort William and was a lifetime resident of Thunder Bay, attending St. Martin's Catholic School and Selkirk Vocational School. Her early employment was at Dominion Motors, Walsh Grocery and Simpson Sears. Eda was a lifetime member of St. Agnes' Parish and was a devoted member of the Catholic Women's League and Italian Venet Society. Her life was a model for service to God, family, and the greater community. She was predeceased by her parents Massimiliano and Genoveffa Carli, her sisters Egles Raynak and Elia Carli. On May 21, 1956, she married Elso Santin and during their 60 years of marriage they raised and nurtured five cherished children. Eda was passionate, hardworking, dedicated and generous to her family. She will be lovingly missed by her husband Elso, children and grandchildren: Susan and Barry Quarrell (Nathaniel, Kaitlyn, Matthew); Larry Santin and Lori McKay (Leya, Kyra); David Santin (Turner, Cale); Lori and Bob Schweiger (Eric, Mavrick, Reeve); James Santin. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren all of whom were the centre of her life. Visitation for family and friends will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Church on Monday, December 19th and the funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St Joseph's Care Group-St Joseph's Hospital c/o St. Joseph's Foundation. Eda Santin will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11, 2017.
