Earlene Asleson, age 78, of Lake City, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at Lake City Care Center. She was born on July 2, 1938, to Edwin and Emma (Welti) Martin in Oakwood Township in Wabasha County. Earlene grew up in Plainview and graduated from Sherburn High School in 1956. She attended Cosmetology School in Faribault, Minn. She married Luverne Asleson on Feb. 6, 1960, in Lake City at Bethany Lutheran Church. They farmed in Lake Township in Wabasha County until 1967 when they moved to Lake City. She owned Hill Top Beauty Salon in Lake City. She also worked as a LPN at River Oaks Nursing Home, Lake City nursing home and hospital and she worked as a milk tester. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Lake City VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed riding her golf cart around town, traveling and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Earlene is survived by two children, David Asleson of Lake City and Deniele Denzer of Lake City; six grandchildren, Jessica Cox, Katie Asleson Morphew, Nicole Asleson Morphew, Joseph Denzer, Justin Denzer, Holly Denzer; and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Elaine Wurst of Lake City and one brother Louis Martin of Dunnellon, Fla. She is preceded in death by her husband, one son, James; parents; and sister, Donna Searles. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City with the Rev. Scott Fiege officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery.
