ALBION — Earle D. Peffer, 88, of Albion, died on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at North Ridge Village Nursing Home. He was born on Nov. 11, 1926, in Albion, to the late Charles and Effie (Ball) Peffer. He married Mary Ethel Bohnenberger on Nov. 11, 1951, in Albion. Mr. Peffer was a retired farmer and involved in many activities. He was an avid hog farmer for over 60 years, raising thousands of show pigs, mostly for 4-H members. He enjoyed helping youth with their 4-H experience, having 4-H pig sales at his residence for over 60 years. Earle not only enjoyed farming and raising livestock, but the outdoors. He loved to fish and hunt, and especially enjoyed gardening, and loved to spend time with his grandkids. He was also a part of Indiana Livestock Hall of Fame for year 2000, National Spotted Breed Hall of Fame 1994, more than 60 years of raising prize-winning hogs on his family's farm, Noble County Swine Committee, Noble County Extension Board, Noble County Soil and Water Conservation Board, received an award for 40 Years of Service for Indiana 4-H, and an Indiana State Fair Spot Exhibitor from 1952-1994. Some of his most memorable accomplishments included 'Nuff Said' Champion Cross boar at the Indiana State Fair in 1998, and Champion Spot Boar at the Indiana State Fair for four consecutive years. He became a member of the Indiana Livestock Hall of Fame in 2000, National Spotted Breed Hall of Fame in 1994, more than 60 years of raising prize-winning hogs on his family's farm. He was involved in numerous organization such as the Noble County Swine Committee, Noble County Extension Board, Noble County Soil and Water Conservation Board. He received an award for 40 Years of Service for Indiana 4-H, and an Indiana State Fair Spot Exhibitor from 1952-1994. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ethel Peffer; son, Larry (Rhonda) Peffer of Indiapolis; daughter, Colleen (Dudley) Peffer of Albion; grandchildren, Laurel (Shane) Price, Nicole (Robert) Webb, Troy (Christina) Parker, and Tyson (Amanda) Parker; and great-grandchildren, Maddison, Mackenzie, Morgan, Jameson, Alyssa, and Mayah. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, at Harper Funeral Home, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Avilla.
