Esther Diaz Anaya, 96, returned to her heavenly home on May 25, 2017. Her devotion to family and firm belief in God ultimately gave her peace. Esther was born on January 25, 1921 in Mexico to Angela Diaz and Valente Diaz. She graduated from Bowie High School as valedictorian in 1939.Esther was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her high school sweetheart, Roberto Anaya on May 10, 1942. They were married for 66 years till his passing in 2009. While her husband served in the Air Force, Esther raised their four children to constantly pursue their goals. Esther is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator and her family that have gone before her: husband, Roberto Anaya (2009), mother, Angela C. Aguilar (1981), sister, Luz D. Loya (2003) and brother, Raoul Anaya (1944).Esther is survived by her sons, Robert D. Anaya, Raoul A. Anaya, Daniel V. Anaya, her daughter, Rebecca E. Herrera and her granddaughter, Ann Marie Dungan, her husband Sean Dungan and their son, Jack Robert Dungan. Dear Mom and Dad, you will always be in our thoughts and prayers. Visitation Thursday, June 1, 2017, 5 to 9 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm at Martin Funeral Home West. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11:30 am at St. Matthews Catholic Church, burial to follow at Fort Bliss.
