FAIRCHILD ERCELL W. FAIRCHILD (Age 97) Mr. Ercell W. Fairchild, of North Wilkesboro, NC passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at his home. Mr. Fairchild was born on May 1, 1919 in Wilkes County, NC to Attie and Viola Foster Fairchild. He was retired from United Airlines after 32 years. Mr. Fairchild was a member of the United Airlines Retirees, Air Force Association and VFW. Mr. Fairchild served in the Army and Air Force during WWII and in Korea. He had been very faithful in Church, having served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Finance Director, Usher, a member of the Buildings and Grounds Committee, By Laws Committee, and various other committees and positions in several Southern Baptist Churches. In addition to his wife, Juanita Virginia Tapscott Fairchild and parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Lavinia Miles and JuanitaFairchild; brothers; Garland and Ceril Fairchild and great-grandchild, David M. Trainor. He is survived by two daughters, Christine V. Fairchild of North Wilkesboro and Joyce L. Fairchild of Springfield, OR, two sons, Brett D. Fairchild (Brenda) of Leesburg, VA and Tom W. Fairchild (Rebecca) of Garden Valley, CA; seven grandchildren, Brennan E. Fairchild of Madison, IN, Lea Janukowski of Tulsa, OK, Debbie M. Parker of Bend, OR, Joel T. Fairchild of Myrtle Beach, SC, Blaine W. Fairchild of Warrenton, VA, Barbara "BJ" J. Dunn of Bend, OR and Blake H. Fairchild of Waterford, VA, 23 great -grandchildren, M. Chesapeake, Mackenzie, BethAnn, Ellie, Corryne, Addison, Caroline, Landen, HeidiMay, MirandaBeth, Mcayla, Trentyn, Justyn, Kyle, Allison, Braydon, Spencer, Makennah, Kenadee, Anthony, Samantha, Ashlea and James; one great-great granddaughter, Piper; one brother, J.C. Fairchild (Shirley) of Roanoke, VA, and one sister-in-law; Rita Fairchild of Charlottesville, VA. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday evening, November 18, at Reins Sturdivant Funeral Home and from 1 to 1:45 p.m., on Saturday, November 19, at Hinshaw Street Baptist Church, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Rev. Jeff Collins, Rev. Jim Gore, Rev. Sherrill Welborn and Rev. Kevin Brown officiating. Burial, with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142, will be at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Wilkesboro. Pallbearers will be the Grandsons and Great Grandsons.
