ELLEN BAY Obituary

Feb 14, 1929 - Jan 25, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Ellen Bay Longtime Puyallup resident Vera Ellen Bay, Ellen to family and friends, died peacefully on May 25, 2017 from Alzheimer's. She was born on February 14, 1929 in Carthage, MO to William and Vera Agan. Difficult times due to the Great Depression led her family to move to Los Angeles in 1938. After graduation from Manual Arts High School she married Carl E. Smith, and they had one son, Michael. She worked as Executive Secretary to the principal of Fontana High and to the school wide psychologist of the Fontana Unified School District. After her divorce she married Ernest C. Bay, and they had son Steven. After living in Riverside, CA, they moved to College Park, MD, and finally to Puyallup in 1975. During the 1980's Ellen worked as a secretary at Korum Ford, although her great passion in life was creative writing. Her great loves in life were her family, her husband of fifty-three years, Ernie, and her devotion to God. Ellen is survived by sons Steven Bay and Michael C. Smith, daughter-in-law Kathy Bay, granddaughter Victoria Bay, and nephews David and Dan Payton. A memorial will be held at Powers Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 13th, at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association.
