Dorothy May Langan of East Tawas, formerly of St. Clair Shores, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2013, age 81 years. Dorothy was born on Aug. 29, 1931 in Detroit to Edward J. and Burtie M. Ryan. She graduated from St. Martin On The Lake High School in 1949. She then attended Marygrove College and earned a degree in journalism. Dorothy married her husband, John Matthew Langan Jr., on June 12, 1954 at St. Martin On The Lake Catholic Church. Together, they celebrated 52 beautiful years of marriage until his death in March 2007. Dorothy worked as an account executive for Anthony M. Franko Advertising Firm in the Ren Cen in downtown Detroit for 20 years, retiring after 20 years of faithful service. Those who knew and loved Dorothy will always remember how she truly enjoyed reading, traveling, bowling and bird watching. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family. Dorothy is survived by her seven loving children, Dorothy (Mike) Langan, Terrance (Debbie) Langan, Timothy (Emily) Langan, Debra Stark, Diane (Joe) Berolatti, Denise (Lee) Iler and Donna (Dan) Lakenen; 15 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many dear friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, John; her daughter, Mary Langan; her parents, Edward and Burtie Ryan; her granddaughter, Jessica Stark; and her son-in-law, Michael Aiello. A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, April 13 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Charles Donajkowski officiating. Her family will welcome friends for visitation on Friday at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City from 4 to 7 p.m. and also at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass. Interment will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in East Tawas.
