Our Loving Mother, Grandmother and wife Dorothy Irene Ross passed away on April 11th at Royal Vista Care Center. Dorothy was born on Aug. 25th 1925 to Lyle and Bernice Hall in Kelso, WA. They moved to Ellensburg four years later, where she attended school and graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1943. She moved to Seattle to live with her aunt Dores Hall, where they both worked at Boeing during the war. She returned to Ellensburg in 1945. Dorothy was introduced to Dean Ross by her father at the Elk's Lodge, they were married on May 25, 1946. Dorothy was a top notch homemaker, raising their children while working full time, outside of the home. She and Dean lived their entire married life, nearly 63 years, in the same house on Hanson Road. Gardening and canning vegetables and fruit was a favorite summer hobby. Sewing beautiful clothing kept her busy year around. Early in their marriage Dorothy, Dean and the kids spent weekends with good friends Jeeping in the mountains surrounding the Valley, picnicing in the summer and collecting fire wood and Christmas trees in the winter. RV-ing became a family favorite, including trips to the Oregon coast, Hoods Canal and one long trip in their 5th wheel to Alaska. She especially loved trips to Hawaii, Mexico and Arizona after retiring from Yakima Federal where she worked for many years. She enjoyed daily walks with neighborhood friends to Perkins for coffee and talks. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Dean, son Paul and wife Judi, son Dean Jr. and wife Debra, daughter Linda Dihel, granddaughter Jennifer and husband "H" (Paul) and grandson Philip (Linda), her aunt Dores (Hall) Robinson of Seattle, sister-in-law Anice Smith of Ellensburg and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
