This obituary is administered by:
KENOSHA - Doris Mae Seeger (nee Deshais), age 92, formerly of Racine, passed away on May 10, 2016, at Parkside Manor in Kenosha. Doris was born on May 16, 1923, in Racine to Gaspar and Isabel (nee Gagnon) Deshais. She was educated in Racine schools, graduating from Washington Park High School. On May 1, 1943, Doris was united in marriage to Norman R. Seeger at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They celebrated 70+ years of marriage. In her early career, she was employed at Mamco Manufacturing. Norman and Doris later owned and operated The Seeger Motel, the first motel in Racine, from 1960 until 1970. Doris was a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, where she volunteered her time and talents. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Branson, MO, where they owned a condo. They loved the Ozarks and the people of the area. They also spent time on their property near the Wisconsin River in Necedah. She enjoyed antiquing and rummage sales, whether her own or others. Doris’s hobbies included knitting, sewing, crocheting, needlework, and crafts. She knitted thousands of baby hats for newborns in Racine and other hospitals. Doris opened her heart to many people. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, but she would always make time to step in to help whenever she was needed. She cared for her aunt and uncle and friends. She invited friends and family to dinner and to celebratory gatherings. She helped many people with her kind deeds. Her devotion to family and friends was remarkable. She delighted in taking her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to lunch, to playgrounds, and on excursions. Left to cherish Doris’s memory are her son, Norman E. (Carol A.) Seeger, and daughter-in-law Susan Seeger; four grandchildren, Deborah (Jerry) Prucha, Christine Mast, Rebecca (Mark) Jenn, and Robert (Katey) Seeger; nine great-grandchildren, Luke and Scott Jenn, Liam and Emma Mast, Tyler Prucha, and Jazmyn, Greyson, Evelyn, and Eleanor Seeger. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Norman in 2014 and their son William Charles (Bill) Seeger in 2012. The family wishes to thank two special caregivers, Tina and Martha, and the staff at Parkside Manor, and the staff at Hospice Alliance for their support and kind compassion. Friends and relatives may meet with the family on Monday, May 16, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie Street, in Racine. Father Steve Varghese, SAC, will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Doris on Monday, May 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie Street, in Racine. Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association or to one’s designated charity in Doris’s memory.
