Doris Jeanette Burress, 83, formerly of Somerset, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville, KY.She was born on August 19, 1932 in Attilla, KY, to the late Bennie and Bessie Bray Sprowles. She was a patient aide for the Communities at Oakwood and a member of the Eastern Star.She is survived by a son, Alan Burress of Middlesboro, KY; a granddaughter, Misti (and Matthew) Vornberg of Fairfield, Ohio; a grandson, Kyle Burress of Pennsylvania; two great grandsons, Chase and Ashton Vornberg of Ohio; a brother, Donald (and Nancy) Sprowles of Buffalo, KY; and two sister in-laws, Peggy Sprowles of Hodgenville, KY, and Mabel Sprowles of Louisville, KY.She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Bessie Sprowles; her husband, Bill Burress, whom she married on June 21, 1957 in Marion County, and preceded her on March 31, 2000; a grandson, Cory Burress; and two brothers, Dennis Sprowles, and Bobby Sprowles.Visitation will be on Friday, June 17 from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.Her funeral service will be held on Friday, June 17 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
