Doreen Pahl Obituary

Nov 01, 2016 - Dec 01, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
Doreen Pahl of Mazeppa passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at the age of 84. She was born on Nov. 20, 1932, in Pine Island (Goodhue County) to George Conrad Hofschulte and Leona Furhman Hofschulte. Doreen was baptized Doreen Mary Ann Hofschulte on Nov. 27, 1932, at Ss. Peter & Paul Church in Mazeppa. She grew up in the Mazeppa area and married Henry Herman Pahl on Jan. 5, 1953. The couple lived in Mazeppa and created a beautiful life together. Doreen raised their two children while working as an extremely talented seamstress. After the passing of her husband, Henry, she continued to live in their home and spent time gardening, sewing and watching her grandchildren. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by family and spoiling her grandchildren. Doreen had a fierce love for her family, a genuinely giving personality, and an infectiously feisty spirit. The world spins a little slower without her in it, going 90 miles an hour, as she would say. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Diane Pahl Strapko and her husband James Strapko, and by her son Steven Michael Pahl and his wife Cindy Pahl. Doreen's spunk will live on in the hearts of her grandchildren, Stefanie Strapko Rieck (husband Josh Rieck), Michael Pahl (wife Jordan Pahl), Jason Pahl (fiancé Melissa), Nicolas Pahl, and Andrew Pahl. Her memory will be kept alive for her great-grandchildren Natalie Rieck and Brantley Pahl. Doreen is survived by her sisters, Marcy Burt and Irene Schultz, and by her brothers, Howard Hofschulte and Leonard Hofschulte. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Leona Hofschulte, her sister Rita Zimmermann, and her brothers Francis Hofschulte and Donald Hofschulte. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10 a.m., prior to the service. Following the service, a private burial will take place at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Cemetery.
