Donny Mack HoodHomer - Donny Hood passed away September 25, 2017 surrounded by his closest family and friends. Visitation for Donny will be held at Kilpatrick Chapel in Ruston, Louisiana on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. A funeral service celebrating his life will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 29, 2017 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Ruston. Officiating will be Brother Chuck Johnston and Brother Billy Pierce. Donny was born on September 7, 1946 in Ruston, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Ruston High and Louisiana Tech University. In his professional life, Donny was manager of Vanier Graphics for twenty years and Director of Field Services for Fibrebond Corporation until his retirement. In addition to being an astute businessman, Donny was a gifted craftsman. Many called upon him for his expertise in completing a difficult project. Donny was always an active member of his community and church. When residing in Benton, Louisiana, he became a charter member of Cypress Baptist Church and was instrumental in the building of the original sanctuary. Upon retirement, he and his beloved wife Judy moved to Lake Claiborne where they remain active members of Pleasant Point Baptist Church in Homer, Louisiana. Never one to sit idle, he was owner and operator of Captain D's Guide Service on Lake Claiborne. Hunting, golfing, and attending Louisiana Tech Sporting Events claimed much of the remainder of his time. Donny is survived by his wife of fifty years, Judy Foley Hood; son, Slade Hood and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren, Tyler Hood, Garrett Hood, Kayla Cassidy, and Caleb Cassidy; sister, Janie Hood Pelfrey; aunt, Judy DeLony Wasson. He is also survived by his wife's loving family, sister, Kay Bryce and husband Kevin; brother, Michael Foley and wife Debbie; brother, Rick Foley; aunt, Mary Aaron; and numerous close friends and family.Preceding Donny in death were his parents, Prentis and Betty DeLony Hood and his eldest son Shawn Hood.Donny was much loved by his family and friends. He will be missed and his memory will be forever cherished. Pallbearers include Jerry Chandler, Don Hogan, John Jeffcoat, Arthur Powell, Gary Smith, and Travis Tindall.
