Donna Lynn Bumpus RACINE – Donna Lynn (nee: Maresh) Bumpus, 62, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on March 30, 1952, the daughter of Donald and Alice (nee: Nelson) Maresh. On June 23, 1973 Donna was united in marriage to Alan Bumpus. She received her Associate Degree from Gateway Technical College. She had a tremendous heart for the under privileged. Donna helped start the R.E.S.T. Program and served as the Executive Director from 1993–2004. She also helped start the Community Meal at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Donna was a Leadership Racine Graduate and received The 1999 Journal Times Award. She had been employed at Sam’s Club from 2005 to 2013 as a greeter. Surviving is her husband, Alan and their son, Christopher (Samantha) Bumpus; grandchildren, Adriana Bumpus and Brandon Bumpus, mother, Alice Maresh, sister, Dianne (Bill) Maresh-Kass and brother, Edward Maresh. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Donna was preceded in death by her son, Casey Bumpus on June 17, 1993 and her father, Donald Maresh. Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Cole Griffin officiating. Donna will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
