CORNELIUS - Donald C. White Sr., 73, went to be with the Lord Dec. 7, 2016.He was born on Aug. 30, 1943, in Wilkes County to O.H. White Jr. and Hazel Williams White. He was a man of integrity who worked hard and deeply loved his family. He was especially proud of his sons. He loved reading and cooking and had a keen sense of humor. Don served in the chaplain's service in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from BellSouth's Advertising and Publishing Division. After retirement, he owned and operated a restaurant for seven years.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Oliver White III and Michael White. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Melba McNeely White; sons, Donald, Jr. of Cornelius and Jonathan of Atlanta; sisters, Sandy Ballew (Charles), Joan Page (Bobby), Becky Crotts, Christine White, Kim Griffith; brothers, Larry, Pete, Phillip (Christel) and Dink White; and sisters-in-law, Teresa White and Cathy Dye, and numerous nephews and nieces.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9 at James Funeral Home.The funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 10 at St. Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville.Burial will follow the Mass.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities (Adoption Services) 1123 S.
