Verzani, Donald Wester Donald Wester "Don" Verzani of Peoria, AZ, died at the age of 86 on August 11, 2017. Don was born on August 4, 1931 at home in Lewiston, Idaho to Andrew and Frances (Wester) Verzani. He attended Lewiston High School, as well as Lewis Clark State College and had a long and successful career in the carpet industry. Don married his high school sweetheart Melvine Hill. Don and Melvine resided in Washington State from 1955 to 2011 at which time they became permanent residents of Peoria after many years as snowbirds. Don was an avid sports fan and also spent his time playing pinochle and cribbage with his friends and family. All of Don's grandchildren learned to play golf from him and he loved playing with them, until his health prohibited it. He was a strong and loving family man and was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Don was always looking for ways to provide support, guidance or a helping hand to all of his family. His body failed him, but his vivid memory never did as he could remember jokes and childhood memories. His grandchildren all enjoyed the many special trips he took them on to Disneyland, Washington D.C., Montana, New Mexico, Oregon and even rock hounding. He loved his summer home on Whidbey Island where he enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Special times were digging clams, crabbing on the beach, and just watching his grandkids play. Don is survived by his wife Melvine, his children Connie (Chuck) Strawn of Wenatchee, WA, Dick (Kathy) Verzani of Buckeye, AZ, grandchildren, Casey (Jennifer) Perry, Christa Wright, Darin, Kyle, and Troy (Ashley) Verzani, and his great grandchildren Hannah Wright, Landon, Caden, and Gavin Perry, his sister Clara Mae Mayer and many nieces and nephews. His family wishes to extend an invitation of all family and friends to attend a Celebration of Life service at Peace Lutheran Church, 18265 N. 89th Ave., Peoria, AZ on September 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. and a reception following the service at Palmbrook Golf and Country Club, 9350 W. Greenway Rd., Sun City, AZ at 3:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be provided to Peace Lutheran Preschool for scholarships.
