Malone, Donald Vincince,Donald Vincince Malone, age 88 of Louisville, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017. He was born on March 14, 1928 in Utica, South Dakota and was known as Don, to family and friends. During his early school age years his family was involved in construction of roads in his home state. This involved living in mobile campsites and receiving his early education in schools located on Indian reservations. Don's service in the U.S. Navy provided many colorful stories for anyone inviting conversation. After the Navy he attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, where he met his future wife of 65 years , Lucille. By 1959 Don and Lu were in KY. During his 30 year career as a car hauler for Ford vehicles, Don took on an active role as union steward. His love for horses was always his passion. He was a member of the National Appaloosa Horse Club from 1963 until his death. He was contracted by the National ApHC for over 20 years as the official timer of National and World show events. He owned multiple national and world champion horses. In 1968 Don was a charter member in establishing Kentucky Mid-state Appaloosa Horse Club. He served on the Board of Directors and as President of the KY club for 38 years. For the last 12 years of his life, Don was the devoted caregiver to Lucille until her death in 2015. Family and friends have been blessed with moments shared throughout Don's life.Don leaves behind his brother, Pat Malone, three children, Roxanne Oyler (Larry), Michelle Mattingly (Pat) and Charles Malone (Dot), 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren to cherish his memory. The family would like to send a special thanks to Vic and Julie for their love, care and support.Visitation will be 12-3pm on Friday, Feb 3,2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive, with a celebration of Don's life to follow at 3pm.In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to The ALS Society.
