Donald S. Ranker1931 - 2014Donald S. Ranker, 82, of Twin Lakes, Wis., died Wednesday morning Jan. 15, 2014, at Oakridge Care Center in Union Grove, Wis..Donald S. Ranker was born on Nov. 4, 1931, in Lincoln County, Wis., the son of the late Harold and Viola Lee Ranker. On May 19, 1962, in St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Bristol, Wis., he was united in marriage to Alice Kavanagh. Don moved to Twin Lakes in 1946.Don served in the U.S. Marine Corps from March 5, 1952, until discharge on Feb. 26, 1954. He served overseas in Korea and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. Don joined the Twin Lakes Vol. Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad in 1957. He served in several capacities and served as Rescue Squad Captain from 1972 until 1989. He was one of the first in the State of Wisconsin to become an EMT and then became an EMT-IV Tech in 1986. In 1987 he was nominated and served as EMT of the Year by the Emergency Medical Technician Assoc. of Wisconsin.Don owned and operated Lakeview TV in Twin Lakes for 39 years. He also most recently worked at the Recycling Center in Twin Lakes. He was a charter member of the Twin Lakes Sportsmans Club, the Twin Lakes Senior Citizens and was the head of the Thursday Nite Mens Bowling League. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Don is survived by his wife, Alice; one daughter, Erin (Edward) Jarosiewicz of Lake Villa, Ill.; and one son-Ryan (Lori Brown).He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Delmar and Phillip; two sisters, Bertha Riley and Audrey Stowell.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at the Haase-Lockwood & Assoc. Funeral Home in Twin Lakes. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Johns Cemetery. The Ranker Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of services.
