Donald E. Pike Sr., 77Dunkirk - Donald E. Pike, Sr., 77, passed away on Wednesday evening, August 23, 2017, at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center, Indianapolis.He was born on June 17, 1940, in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Robert E. and Mary Jane (Cole) Pike and graduated from Royerton High School in 1959. He served his country honorably in the US Army from 1962-1965. On October 2, 1960, at Northside Assembly of God in Muncie, he married Peggy L. Hartman.Don worked for Broderick Corp. for 26 years, owned his own shop, P.D. & Sons Tool & Die, for 15 years and retired from Foutaintown Forge in 2002.He enjoyed fishing, old cars, attending his grandchildren's sporting events and loved his sons and family dearly. Don was always willing to help others and would do anything for someone who needed help.Surviving are his wife of nearly 57 years, Peggy L. Pike of Dunkirk; two sons, Donald E. Pike, Jr. of Albany and Daniel Pike (wife, Jennifer) of Ridgeville; five grandchildren, Matthew (wife, Tara), Samantha, Cody, Katie and Cole and one great-grandson, Cameron.He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Mary Jane Pike in 1961; and one sister, Ruth Ann Burke.Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastor Chris Carter officiating.
