DONALD G. BLASING, 82 FREEPORT - Donald G. Blasing, 82, of Freeport, died in his home on Wednesday June 11, 2014. Donald was born on February 18, 1932 in Ste-phenson County, the son of Walter and Thyre (Jensen) Blasing. Donald married Al-ice Barthel on November 14, 1953 in Milledgeville, IL. Al-ice died on January 16, 2009. Donald served with the Freeport Fire Depart-ment for 21 years. He also worked as a carpenter, farmer and was employed at Eickman's Meat Locker. He enjoyed spending his free time gardening, woodwork-ing, and spending time with his family. Survivors include two sons, Donald "Larry" (Lynette) Blasing of Brim-field and Steven (Amy) Blasing of Pearl City; two daughters, Linda (James) Wean of La Vergne, Tennes-see; and Jeanne (James) Crocker of Rockford. His brother, Duane Blasing of Freeport. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, three great-granddaughters, and two step-grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Robert and one sis-ter, Marjorie. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday, at the Ce-darville Emmanuel Church. the Rev. Donald L. Blasing will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. A memo-rial has been established in Donald's memory. Burial will be in Cranes Grove Cemetery.
