Dolores "Lola" Romero, 90, went to meet our Lord on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, surrounded by her family in Las Vegas.Lola was born on October 28, 1921 in El Cerrito, N.M. to Epifanio Torres and Lucianita Vigil Torres.Lola lived in Canoncito, N.M. when married to Secundino Valdez. She was a resident of Sapello (Las Tusas), when married to Jose D. Romero.For the past nine years she lived in Las Vegas with daughter Jo Ann Romero and son-in-law, Henry Gettler.Lola was an outstanding cook, she enjoyed cooking for her family, friends and neighbors and always provided hospitality for everyone.She enjoyed making blankets and raised three generations of family.She devoted her life to her family and was a woman of great faith. She is greatly loved by her family and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and neighbors.She was a member of the Upper Room Prayer Group. She was a lifelong Catholic, a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Church.She is preceded in death by her parents: Epifanio Torres and Lucianita Vigil Torres; first husband: Secundino Valdez; second husband: Jose Dolores Romero; daughter: Frances Montoya; son-in-laws: Carlos Montoya and Albert Otero; sons: Adolfo Romero and Delfino Romero; daughters-in-law: Louisa, Mary and Pauline; grand-daughter: Emily Romero; sisters: Lourdes Sandoval and Antonia Archibeque.Lola is survived by her children: Benny Romero and wife, Marcella, of Albuquerque, Mary Otero and family of Albuquerque, Josie Encinias and family of Santa Fe, Alice Salazar and husband, Pete, and family of Santa Fe, Leroy Romero and wife, Yolanda, and family of Tome, Henry Valdez (wife Pauline deceased) and friend Mary and family of Las Tusas, Benny Valdez and family of Las Vegas, Roy Valdez and wife, Angelina, and family of Las Vegas, Jo Ann Romero and Henry Gettler and family of Las Vegas, Joe Romero (Evelyn) and family of Las Tusas; brother: Richard Torres of Las Tusas; sister: Alice Romero and family of Las Tusas; sister-in-law: Clorinda Gonzales and family of Bloomfield, Colo.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins from the Torres, Vigil, Romero, Gallegos, Silva, Padilla, Archibeque, Sandoval and Valdez families.Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. today (Monday) at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Interment will follow at San Isidro Cemetery in Manuelitas, N.M. with the following serving as casketbearers: sons - Henry Valdez, Benny Valdez, Roy Valdez, Joe Romero and two grandsons: Orlando Romero and Leroy Gettler.
