Dolores Ann Hansen, age 86, of Oscoda, formerly of Fairbanks, Alaska, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Tawas City. She was born on July 3, 1928 in Detroit to the late William and Mary Meldrum (nee Perrin). She met the love of her life, Richard Dale Hansen, in 1948 and he proposed to her only weeks after meeting. They were married on June 23, 1951 at Immaculate Conception Church on the Chena River in downtown Fairbanks, Alaska. Dolores worked locally as a secretary at the Oscoda Press and later retired from Baylock, but would say her most important and rewarding job was raising eight children. In her later years, she enjoyed trips to the Oscoda/AuSable Senior Center and bird watching with her husband. She also liked to build puzzles, crocheting, reading and bike riding with her close friend. Dolores was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and she helped her husband when he was the treasurer of the Michigan LST Association. She is survived by her children, Ralph (Nancy) Hansen, Bill (Joyce) Hansen, Cheri (Dave) Funk, Patti (Felix) Godoy, Jeffrey Hansen, Rebecca (Terry) Allison, and Linda (Kirk Brasher) Hansen; sister, Mary (Jack) Weirath; grandchildren, Megan Hansen, Ryan Hansen, Chris (Gretchen) Hansen, Brian Haynes, Amber (Jon) Fadeyi, Jessica Hansen, Jayme (Nate) Nagel, Chelsea (Brennan) Rottman, Jimmy Godoy, Shannon Allison, Terry Allison and Mason Ulrich; great grandchildren, Gere Hansen, Grace Hansen, Grant Hansen, Greta Hansen, Jazmyne Simpson, Ayshia Fadeyi, Abiola Fadeyi, Oludara Fadeyi, Olukemi Fadeyi, Nathan Nagel and Caleb Nagel; and great-great grandchild, Charleigh Fadeyi. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Richard Dale Hansen; son, David Arthur Hansen; twin sister, Donna Gersky; sisters, Florence Stano and Phyllis Stano; and brother, James Meldrum. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, May 26 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda. Interment will be in Oscoda Pinecrest Cemetery.
