BUTLER — Debra K. Benzel, age 61, of Butler passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016, at DeKalb Health in Auburn. Mrs. Benzel was born on April 6, 1954 in Philipsburg, Montana, to Homer and Mildred Eileen (Jaggers) Randolph. Her father died at an early age and she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Rex Piper, whom she loved as her own father. She married Kenneth D. Benzel on March 17, 1974, in Hot Springs, South Dakota. He resides in Butler. Before moving to Indiana in 1995, Deb opened the first daycare center in Sundance, Wyoming, which is still in existence. She also worked as a DJ at a Christian radio station in Spearfish, South Dakota. In Indiana, Deb has worked the last 17 years as a computer technician at Steel Dynamics in Butler. She has been an active member of several churches over the years. She was a member of the Chapel of Faith in Sundance, Wyoming; the Praise Fellowship in Spearfish, South Dakota; the Christian Life Center in Belle Fourche, South Dakota; and the Agape Assembly of God in Waterloo. She was currently an active member of Christ's Church at Butler. She also enjoyed leading a bi-weekly Bible study at her Butler home. She was a member of Yes You Can Fitness in Auburn where she practiced Holy Yoga and participated in Revelation Wellness classes. She was also a life time member of the VFW in Hot Springs, South Dakota. Deb loved her family passionately and with abandon and would do anything she could to help anyone in need. She was a friend and prayer warrior for everyone she knew. Her generous heart is something her family genuinely wants to duplicate in their lives. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Benzel of Butler; two daughters, Toni LeCompte of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Randi Wells and her husband Wayne Wells III of Garrett; her mother and father, Mildred and Rex Piper of Hot Springs, South Dakota; seven grandchildren, Tracie and Joseph McDaniel, Natasha Obenauer, Alexis and Robert Hylton, Jerad Habeck, Karlie Habeck, Wayne Wells IV and Nate Wells; four great-grandchildren, Kieffer McDaniel, Brooklyn Hylton, Brielle Grace Obenauer and baby girl Habeck; a sister and brother-in-law, Tamera and Mark Norton of Hot Springs, South Dakota; a niece and nephew, Andrea Norton and Matthew Norton; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dad, Homer Randolph, and a brother, Rick Randolph. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at 3 p.m at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 S. Center St. in Auburn. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016, from 3-7 p.m. at Feller and Clark Funeral Home in Auburn. Pastor Dale Rabineau of Christ's Church at Butler will officiate. Memorials may be directed to the Deb Benzel Memorial Community Wellness Scholarship Fund, 500 S. Grandstaff Drive, Suite D, Auburn, IN 46706.
