I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name."-Revelations 3:8Deborah Ann Read, 68, of Goliad, Texas, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday May 10, 2017. Debby was born on October 12, 1948 in Gladewater, Texas to Betty Ruth Powell and James Edward Read. Debby led a life full of compassion, and love for helping others in need. She graduated Robstown High School in 1967 and from there she attended Howard College earning her Associates Degree in Nursing Science, and began working as an LVN at Angelo Community Hospital in San Angelo, Texas. It was here, in her work in the nursery, that she was able to help deliver two of her three beloved grandchildren. Debby's grandchildren were the light of her life. Upon retirement from her nursing career, Debby continued to lend her helping hand whenever possible. She took great joy in teaching her grandchildren, nieces and nephews about cooking, sewing, gardening and many other crafts that she enjoyed. She enjoyed caring for her chickens and ducks, and tending to her garden and rose bushes. She lived her life with a joy and optimism that was contagious to all those who had the pleasure of meeting her. Never would she turn down anyone in need of a helping hand and loved spending time with all of her family whenever possible. Debby was a true light in life for all of her family, and the memories she leaves behind will be cherished forever. She was a loving, caring and kind mother, grandmother, sister, and friend for life to each end everyone she met. Debby is survived by her daughter Leigh Ann Podschelne and husband Paul; Mother Betty Bullen; Sisters Cindy Knorr, Rhonda Turner and husband Steve; Barbara Walker and husband Ray; brother Jeff Bullen and wife Rachel; three grandchildren Matthew Podschelne and wife Janelle, Emily Podschelne and fiance Billy Castro, and Christian Podchelne; many nieces and nephews, Josh, Jeremy, and Jonathan Bullen; Travis Knorr, Melanie Streekstra and husband Erik, Jennifer Knorr; Steven Turner and wife Maggie, and Alexis Turner.Debby is proceeded in death by her father James Edward Read; grandmother Mable Ann Beckerly who Debby loved spending summers with in Paris, Texas.The family will receive friends and family for a visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday May 15, 2017, at Grace Funeral Home. Service is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Goliad First Baptist Church with Pastor Jay Flemming officiating. A light lunch and Fellowship will follow at the church.
