David R. Ingalls Obituary

Jun 20, 1994 - Nov 01, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
David Randall Ingalls, 22, of Palmer, Alaska, passed away on Nov. 5, 2016, while visiting family in Wisconsin. He was born on June 20, 1994, to Kent and Shelly Ingalls, little brother to Jordan and DJ Ingalls. David was a seventh-generation Alaskan, raised in Palmer by his father and adoptive mother, Sarah Knudsen. He attended Swanson and Sherrod Elementary Schools, Palmer Junior Middle School and graduated a year early, at the age of 16, from Palmer High School in 2011, with straight A's. He attended UAA at Mat-Su for two years. David showed his love for family and friends without apprehension, and was never afraid to say "I love you." His love for family and friends was matched only by his love for music. He loved composing, playing and sharing music. He got his first guitar at age 11 and quickly became a creative and practiced musician, who loved making music with his friends. David played in many bands including swing, jazz and concert bands at Palmer Junior Middle School and Palmer High School. He and his lifelong friends formed the band Figg in 2009, taking the stage at local venues. When David wasn't making music, he could be found in the kitchen, cooking. He loved any chance to participate in a BBQ "throw down" with friends and family. David cared deeply about people and was always ready to help someone in need. He was thought of by the people who knew him as everyone's little brother. David was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Palmer, where he was baptized and confirmed in 2008. He was also a fourth generation member of the Palmer Moose Lodge #793, where he was known and loved by many. David is survived by his parents, Kent Ingalls of Palmer and Sarah Knudsen and stepdad Waylon Knudsen of Palmer, and Shelly Ingalls of Milwaukee, Wis.; his brothers, Jordan of Palmer and DJ of Milwaukee, Wis.; and stepbrother, Mason Knudsen; his grandparents, Dave and Sandy Ingalls of Palmer, Charlotte Ingalls of Spokane, Wash., Randy and Dianne Roloff of Palmer, Ann Rovin and Dick Stoll of Evergreen, Colo., and John Rovin of El Paso, Texas; and great-grandmother, Corrine Roloff of Brookfield, Wis. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and bandmates. A memorial service for David will be held on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at 3 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, located at 440 East Elmwood Avenue in Palmer. A potluck and celebration of life will follow at the Palmer Moose Lodge at 4 p.m., located at 1136 S. Cobb St. in Palmer. David loved to wear t-shirts of his favorite bands and the family welcomes guests to wear their own favorite band tee to the Moose Lodge in honor of David. We welcome you to add pictures and comments to David's online memorial page at www.sunsetoptions.com.
