David F. Long, SrNewark: A funeral service for David F. Long, Sr. will be held on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 1pm at Brucker Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, Newark, OH 43055. Family will greet friends for two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery. David, age 75, of Newark, passed away on October 27, 2016 at the Selma Markowitz Center. He was born on January 11, 1941 to the late Harry and Juanita (Angus) Long in Whitesville, West Virginia. David is survived by his wife of 24 years, Sue (Adams) Long. He also leaves behind his children, David, Bobby, Melanie (Roger), Mike (Terry), Andy, Chris (Teri) and John (Brea); grandchildren, Logan, Lauren, Jesse, Chelsea, and Caleb; and sister, Ethel. David is preceded in death by his parents, son, Dana, and brother, Bob. David owned and operated a trucking company for over 40 years, and in 1987 was awarded the Safety Award from Truck One, which is given for driving 1 million miles without an incident. He proudly served our country as a member of the US Army for 14 years, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a proud member of Heath Masonic Lodge #720. David also had a passion for model rail-roading and was an avid skeet shooter. He was a loving husband and a wonderful father.
