Dave's will and strength and determination to live carried him thru a 19 year battle with ALS
David Cawdrey 44, of Snohomish Washington, lost his 19 year long battle with ALS on Sunday, March 31, 2019. David was born to Dan Cawdrey & Karen Martinez on January 09, 1975 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Dave also was blessed to have a second mother in his life, Lillian Cawdrey. David has two siblings Danny Cawdrey Jr. & Tricia Cawdrey.
David graduated from Fayette High in 1993. He had a true love and passion for skateboarding and following high school his talents enabled him to be sponsored by Etnies and Faction. For work, David did high rise construction which ironically depicts how Dave lived his life, on the edge always ready to do daring things. David was also a pro-skateboarder, known for the way he flawlessly grinded the rails. Helping to put the Seattle skate scene on the map and becoming a local legend. He met Kori Jo during this time and they fell hard for each other instantly. They were excited about the future when suddenly life changed for all involved. Dave began to feel and know something was very wrong with his body. Sadly the diagnosis of ALS became what retired Dave from that free, daredevil life on November 9, 2000.
Dave had one more thing that he wanted here out of this life, a family. David and Kori Jo Cawdrey married on January 13, 2001. He was blessed to receive such a selfless, devoted love from Kori who became Dave's full-time caregiver. Soon to follow came their two sons. Keone David Cawdrey born August 27, 2001, and Elijah David Cawdrey born March 5, 2003. They were blessed to take two family trips to Italy and Hawaii before the complications of ALS would make it impossible to do so. David was put on life support in June of 2006. He would never come off, changing his fight to never breathing on his own again. Dave's will and strength and determination to live are like nothing none of us have ever seen. He would live on life support for nearly 13 years before his body just couldn't fight any longer.
David is survived by His wife Kori Jo Cawdrey and their son's Keone David Cawdrey who is now 17 and Elijah David Cawdrey who is now 16. What a blessing and gift to be able to watch them grow up. He is also survived by his parents Dan & Lillian Cawdrey and his siblings Danny Cawdrey Jr. & Tricia Cawdrey.
May your soul rest in peace David. May you have your body back and are able to skate again as you watch over us.
You can to the family or in memory of David Cawdrey.
