NEWTON - Wacker, Daryl W., 60, died on Friday, July 3, 2015, as a result of an automobile accident near Whitewater, KS. Daryl, son of Herbert and Bernice (Hoffart) Wacker, was born on March 14, 1955, in Norfolk, NE. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Nebraska on March 24, 1955, and confirmed March 30, 1969. He attended St. John's Lutheran Parochial School in Battle Creek and was a 1973 graduate of Battle Creek High School. He graduated from Northeast Technical College in 1975, and from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1980 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics and Animal Science. He married Lori Warnke on January 6, 1979. They later divorced and he married Cynthia Ducey on February 3, 2007. They later divorced. He worked in agricultural and chemical sales all his life starting with the Battle Creek Farmer's Co-Op while in high school. After graduating from college, he was employed by Farmland Industries, Farmer's Co-Op in Hooper, NE, and then moved to Emporia, KS where he worked for American Cyanamid until 1997. After leaving Cyanamid, Daryl held several positions with retailer and seed companies in Kansas; most recently with Ag Service of Hillsboro and Whitewater, KS. Daryl was a friend to his coworkers and customers. He enjoyed working outdoors, hunting, and rooting for his Nebraska Cornhuskers. He was a loving father and grandfather and loved spending time with them. He is survived by his three children, son, Tim (Julia Smith) Wacker; daughter, Amy (Trent) Olson both of Emporia, KS, and daughter, Megan (Bryson Ramsey) Wacker of Derby, KS; his three grandchildren, Bennett Wacker, Porter Olson, and Olivia Ramsey; siblings, Herbert (Judy) Wacker of Wichita, KS, Joanne (Fred) Prauner of Fremont, NE, Daniel (Carol) Wacker of Fresno, CA, Marcus (Jean) Wacker, and Sharon (Larry) Grunke both of Norfolk, NE; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Daryl was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ernest in infancy; and brother, Paul. A Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 13, at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. Reverend Richard Snow will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, July 13, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the family. Steffen Mortuary of Battle Creek is in charge of arrangements.
