Darwin A. Mickley, age 39, of Elmira, passed very unexpectedly due to a heart attack on Sun. Nov. 20, 2016.He was born on April 28, 1977 in Troy, Pa., the son of Glenn and Michelle Salle Mickley, Gillett, Pa. In addition to his parents, "Mick" is survived by his loving wife and companion of the last seven years, Rebecca Reichard Mickley; their two sons, Maxwell and Fallon; Darwin's siblings, Renae (Tom) Arnold of Pink Hill, Mis., and Darryn (Melissa) Mickley of Elmira; father-in-law and mother-in-law, David (Susan) Reichard of Columbia Cross Roads, Pa.; sisters-in-law, Jennifer (Brian) Starks of Bethlehem, Pa., and Sarah (Mitchell) MacDougall of St. Michaels, Md.; brother-in-law, David (Andrea) Reichard of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; along with nieces, nephews, many friends and colleagues. Mick graduated from Troy High School in 1995. A man of service, Darwin served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps as a Sergeant. He also served his state with N.Y.S. Dept. of Corrections at the Southport facility. Mick was well respected for his honesty, dedication and big heart. His interests included most of all time spent with family and traveling. He was an exceptional marksman. Family and friends will be received between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 at the Penn. Ave. United Methodist Church, 1238 Penn Ave., Pine City, NY 14871. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with his friend and pastor, the Rev. William Vallet officiating. Full military and correctional officer honors will be accorded at the church for Mr. Mickley. Memorials to benefit his two children, Maxwell and Fallon, may be directed to the church in his memory.
