Darrel Quayle Dixon, 81, of Logan, Utah, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 17, 2010, at home in Logan.He was born on Oct. 1, 1928, in Salt Lake City to Quayle and Ora Jeppson Dixon, grew up in Spanish Fork, Utah, and served a full-time mission in Northern California from 1948 to 1950.On Aug. 31, 1951, he married his sweetheart, Beverly Gean Williams, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, which he called "the greatest blessing of my life."He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University and a master's degree from Utah State University. He worked for Geneva Steel, Del Monte Corp. and LDS Church Education. He was best known as "Brother D" by students at Logan Seminary and Institute, where he spent many years as a teacher, seminary principal and institute director. Many will remember him by his two favorite phrases - "Holymuckieye" and "You Dogbreath."He enthusiastically served in many church assignments, including bishop of the Logan 7th Ward, second counselor in the Mount Logan Stake, and as high counselor and stake president of the USU 2nd Stake.Darrel will always be remembered for his sense of humor, love of the Lord, dedicated church service, summer camping trips to Yellowstone, masterful ceramic work, and extreme devotion to his family.He is survived by his wife Beverly; five children - David Q. Dixon (Julie) of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; Diane Clark (Lane) of Sandy, Utah; Matthew J. Dixon (Kim) of Mesa, Ariz.; Reed W. Dixon (Wendie) of Kaysville, Utah; and Nancy Chapman (Bryan) of Sandy, Utah; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters - Annetta Anderson and Gaylie Durfee.A viewing will be held Tuesday, July 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan; and also prior to the funeral Wednesday, July 21, at the Logan LDS 7th Ward, 565 E. 100 South, at 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will begin at noon at the Logan 7th Ward.
