Darnell was born February 21, 1962 in Atlanta, Georgia to Earl and Bertha King. He graduated from Henry W. Grady High School in 1980 and from the University of Georgia in 1984. On October 16, 1988, he married  Zena Royal in Georgia. Darnell was employed as a real estate agent 16 years, and was one of the region's leading agents. He enjoyed working night and day in his office, and only retired a few years prior to his passing. He spent most of his weekends fishing out on the lake and water sailing. He also enjoyed reading old novels, golfinh at the local country club, and spending time wth his children and grandson whenever he could.

Darnell is survived by his wife Zena of 31 years, son Darnell King, Damitris Royalking, Davon Royalking, Damarco Royalking, and one grandchild Ocean Royalking, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Darnell was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.
