WILMINGTON — Mr. Danny Faison Powell, 84, of Wilmington, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center.
A funeral service was held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. Burial followed at 3 p.m. in Carter Family Cemetery, Garland.
He was born on Dec. 12, 1931, in Garland, N.C., the son of the late Henry Faison Powell and Lilly Cain Powell. Also remembered are two sisters and two brothers, all of who preceded him death.
Mr. Powell was a well-known cabinet maker and entrepreneur in Wilmington and the surrounding area for over 40 years. He was also a partner with and mentor to many fellow cabinet makers and furniture craftsmen in Southeastern NC.
Surviving is his wife of over 64 years, Barbara Mathews Powell; sons, Michael Powell and wife Marcia and Mark Powell and wife Mandy; daughters, Jayne Thompson and husband Byron and Janice Rowe and husband David; two sisters, Myrtle P. Powell and husband Kirby and Hattie P. Jones and husband Thomas; one brother, Willie Powell and wife Willerice; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.
