Daniel Stephen Scott was born on May 2, 1990 to David and Dana Scott of Igo. Our beloved Danny Boy was killed in a tragic car accident just a mile from our homes on Saturday, February 2, 2013. Danny was the great, great, great grandson of John Presley Wright and Edward Ricketts Jones, who were among the first pioneers to settle in the Igo area in the 1860's when it was originally known as Piety Hill. He had a great love for the Igo community and surrounding area. He attended the Igo- Ono School and West Valley High School. He was employed by Steve Parks Apiaries, Inc, and worked in Shasta and Butte Counties as well as Montana. He had a Class A driver's license which he utilized for Steve Parks as well as for driving a water truck during California wildfires. He enjoyed being a bee keeper and understood the value of his occupation. He leaves behind his parents, David and Dana Scott; brother, Zach; great-grandmother Irma Scott; grandparents, Dave and Andrea Scott, all of Igo; grandfather, Bob Mortenson of Texas; step-grandfather, Dave Nickell of Redding; great aunts, Lee Anderson of Willow Creek, Carole Bass of Huntington Beach and Pat Congreyer of Carson City, Nevada; aunts, Christi Imboden and Ellie Nickell of Redding; uncle Steve and aunt Wendy Scott, aunt Theresa and uncle Jason Rubin, all of Redding. He will be missed by his adoring cousins: Lexi and Jacob Rubin, Lucas Scott, and Britni, Hailee, and Kaitlyn Imboden. Danny also leaves behind the love of his life and fiancé Samantha Ironside of Igo; they had planned to be married in May. Danny was preceded in death by his great uncle, Daniel Edward Scott, for whom he was named. He was in swift pursuit of his uncle's legendary status as a hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman; Danny was an avid deer hunter. He was an accomplished fisherman for Salmon and Steelhead on the Sacramento and Trinity Rivers and a skilled hunter of wild turkeys. He was also a houndsman and had treed many bears, cats and coons and was very proud and fond of his dogs. Most of all, he appreciated and loved the beauty and grandeur of the great outdoors. Danny was also characterized by his sensitive and tender heart. He always put caring for others first and was known for his willingness to help his family and friends. He will be forever remembered for the gentle and loving man that he was. Danny will be buried with the ashes of his Uncle Dan at a site yet to be determined. There will be a memorial service on February 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Igo-Ono Elementary School Gymnasium on Placer Road in Igo. The family requests any donations be made to the Ono-Igo Community Church, P.O. Box 69, Igo, CA 96047. Our family extends its sincere appreciation for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from friends, neighbors, and our community of Igo-Ono.
