CHURUBUSCO — Dale E. Duncan, 63, of Churubusco, passed away on Dec. 2, 2016, at 10:45 p.m. at Parkview Randallia Hospital surrounded by his family. Dale was born on July 23, 1953, in Fort Wayne, to Earnest and Hulda (Kruse) Duncan. He spent his formative years in Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1971. He received his bachelor's degree from Taylor University, Upland. In January of 1975, he took over ownership of Eel River Golf Course from his uncle, Luther "Bus" Duncan. He was also a co-founder of U.S. Automation in Huntertown. Dale was a dedicated Christian and a member of the County Line Church of God, Auburn. He was proud to serve on the Farmers and Merchants Bank Board. He was also a longtime member of the Churubusco Rotary and was a Paul Harris Fellow at the Churubusco Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Whitley County Community Foundation Board. Dale married DeEtte "Dee" Leonard on Jan. 28, 1984, in Campwood, Texas. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2011. Following the death of his first wife, he was married to Julie (Robbins) Crabill on May 17, 2014, in Auburn. He is survived by his wife, Julie Duncan of Churubusco; his son, Andrew Duncan of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; his daughter, Anna (Tyler Hockman) Duncan of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Joyce (Walt) Roberson Jr. of Firestone, Colorado, and Joan (Randy) Wilson of Churubusco; his stepson, Stuart (Caramee) Crabill of Butler; Shannon (Nick) Scheumann of Auburn; four grandchildren; a grandson due in March 2017; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at 11 a.m. at County Line Church of God, 7716 N. County Line Road East, Auburn, IN 46706. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, from 2-8 p.m. at Sheets and Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco, or one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
