This obituary is administered by:
Dale C. Christensen peacefully passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he had been living for the past 16 months, on the evening of June 9, 2007. He was born on Feb. 9, 1923, in Logan, Utah, to Christian Konrad and Anna F. Christensen, the oldest of four children. While in the sixth grade at Ellis Elementary School, Dale was crowned King of the School. After graduating from Logan High School in 1941, where he participated in football and track, he joined the Army Air Corps and was stationed in Southern Italy during World War II. His military assignment was as a gunner and aerial photographer with the 15th Air Force 449th bomb group, took him on 50 bombing missions during the War. For his service, he was awarded an Air Medal with several Oak Leaf clusters. After returning to the U.S. and being honorably discharged, Dale enrolled at Utah State Agricultural College where he met and was sealed to Anita Hemmert in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After being blessed with two sons, the marriage unfortunately ended in divorce. After moving to Sparks, Nev., where he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad, he married Mary Bonham on May 25, 1961. Together, they raised three adorable Schnauzer dogs - Boomer, Tinker and Chu Chu. Dale enjoyed all sports - especially golf, tennis, baseball, football and basketball. In later years, he loved visiting with his friends at the Silver Club in Sparks and attending baseball games of family and friends. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed attending sacrament meeting and he also enjoyed visits from his faithful home teacher, Byron Young, while he resided in Reno. He is preceded in death by his wife of 33 and a half years, Mary, who passed away on Dec. 30, 1994, his parents, and his only sister, Ruby Victor, who passed away in Twin Falls, Idaho on June 10 - just hours after his death. Dale is survived by his two sons, Brent Christensen (Alita) and Jon Christensen, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; two granddaughters, Alexandra and Katerina; two brothers, Ross Christensen (Jennie) Logan, Utah and Grant Christensen (Renee) Logan, Utah; his brother-in-law, Edward Bonham (Barbara) Kooskia, Idaho; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He will be greatly missed! A special thanks goes to his niece, Lisa Donnelly (Ron) Sparks, Nev.; home teacher, Byron Young, Sparks, Nev.; and neighbors, Rudy and Beverly Bria, Sparks, Nev.; for all of their loving service in recent years. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2007, in the Logan City Cemetery. A viewing will be held prior to services from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net.
